My name is Ryan Erickson (He/They).
I incorporate mindfulness based cognitive therapy (MBCT) in my practice and in my life. I frequently incorporate humor into my practice along with a friendly charismatic demeanor. I work with Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, and Complex Grief and utilize Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Internal Family System (IFS) in my practice.
It might sound cliche to say I'm passionate about my work but I really do mean it. I am not going to sit by for an hour and say 'mm hmm'. I'm going to push you, I'm going to challenge you. I am at my core an exposure therapist, I'm very friendly but I will continue to encourage you to face your fears, overcome your past, and work toward a fuller more authentic you.
First and foremost I strive to help my clients connect with themselves be as authentic as they can. I mostly incorporate mindfulness to help facilitate coping/grounding skills and help treat anxiety/depression symptoms. I utilize EMDR to treat clients who struggle with trauma symptoms. I also utilize IFS to help clients connect with themselves and navigate dissociative symptoms.
“Who am I?”
IFS stands for Internal Family Systems. It identifies and helps to unify different “Parts” in an internal family system. These Parts are often doing their best to ‘protect’ you from danger. This treatment seeks to have you better familiarize yourself with these Parts (And these Parts with You!) hopefully to create a better more Authentic You.
“What is IFS?”
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and reprocessing. It is a therapeutic technique which strives to treat trauma related symptoms by incorporating ‘eye movement’ or bilateral stimulation. It is an intensive exposure therapy approach that has you re-experience stressful memories in a safe environment guided by a professional therapist (me) paired with bilateral stimulation.
